Kew Gardens House
The longtime owner of this historic, turn-of-the-century Tudor house once located on Queens farmlands sought a thoughtful renovation to bring it forward for the next generation of family.
After residing in the home for more than 25 years, the homeowner wanted a full renovation to update the property for sale while maintaining its original historic details and character.
The renovation entailed rehabilitation and restoration of existing original details including the plaster walls, wood moldings, hardwood floors, wooden doors, and slate roof. Original architectural components such as doors, plumbing fixtures, tile, and medicine cabinets were salvaged where possible and repurposed throughout the home. Windows and front doors were replaced with careful attention to matching the original appearance.
We reconfigured the first floor to add a powder room and expand the kitchen for greater storage space to meet the needs of today’s homeowners. The owner selected natural hickory kitchen cabinets to reflect the original farmhouse style of the home. The project was executed and delivered during the Covid-19 pandemic on a strict budget and timeline.
